Ports Of Normandy
PORTS OF NORMANDY is a dedicated port authority that brings together the Normandy Regional Council, the Departmental Councils of La Manche, Calvados and Seine-Maritime, the Urban Community of Caen-la-Mer, and the Agglomeration Communities of Le Cotentin and the Dieppe region. Since 1 January 2019, PORTS OF NORMANDY is the port authority for Caen-Ouistreham, Cherbourg and Dieppe and, as such, is responsible for developing the port domain, selecting the port operators (concessionaires, towage, etc.), directing the ports’ development policy and, finally, guaranteeing safe access for vessels. With quality multimodal links to the main European corridors and suitable harbour facilities, the three ports of Caen-Ouistreham, Cherbourg and Dieppe have the capacity to handle various types of traffic and accommodate a wide range of logistic and industrial activities. Seven million tonnes of cargo and two million passengers per year have established PORTS OF NORMANDY as one of France’s most significant port authorities with three versatile, complementary ports hosting a wide variety of activities and business sectors: cross-Channel ferries, cruises, dry and liquid bulk, industry, ship and boat repairs, fishing, recreational boating and more. PORTS OF NORMANDY is constantly seeking to adapt its environment, by identifying new avenues for development. Thus, substantial investments were made at Cherbourg Port in the middle of the 2010s to enable the port to host activities connected to the Marine Renewable Energy sector.
