Port & Terminal and Warehouse Services
Three Port Areas: The General Port, the Deep Port, and the Silverstone Port form an efficient entity, providing cost-effective transport services through well-functioning port logistics. For hoisting project cargo such as windmill components, cisterns, vessel engine parts, and other heavy industry loads, we utilize two Gottwald port cranes with hoisting capacities of 150 and 140 tons. In addition to a wide range of cranes and versatile warehousing and terminal facilities, the port offers large open areas for storage purposes. The General Port also features an All-Weather Terminal (AWT), the largest in Europe and the only one in the Nordic countries. The AWT’s logistics system, loading area, and warehousing facilities enable the handling of containers and sensitive general cargo in all weather conditions.

Container Port
Silverstone Port – A Growing Hub for Container Traffic Silverstone Port, the newest section of the Port of Kokkola, has developed in recent years into a significant logistics hub, especially for container traffic. Containers mainly arrive from major European ports such as Rotterdam and Antwerp, carrying goods destined for both the Kokkola Industrial Park and the wider Central and Northern Ostrobothnia region. The containers are transported by feeder vessels, which are smaller container ships compared to ocean-going vessels. These feeders operate as a kind of “distribution network” at sea, moving containers from large international hub ports like Antwerp and Rotterdam to regional ports such as Kokkola. A wide variety of goods pass through Silverstone Port in containers: raw materials for the chemical and metal industries, products from the mechanical forest industry such as sawn timber and plywood, as well as consumer goods for retail. Some containers remain in the local area, but a large portion continues inland via rail transport. The growth in container traffic has strengthened Kokkola’s position in international trade and made the port an increasingly important part of Finland’s logistics network.
