40 under 40 are celebrated at AntwerpXL
As we look back on last month’s AntwerpXL, we want to again celebrate the 40 under 40 winners recognised at this year’s exhibition.
The 40 under 40 scheme spotlights the best, brightest, and bravest of the next generation in breakbulk. AntwerpXL’s 40 under 40 recognises both those with great potential to become industry leaders in the future and those who have achieved excellence already.
The class of 2022 40 under 40 were recognised at AntwerpXL with their certificates, following the Next Gen conference. Attendees and 40 under 40 recipients all enjoyed networking and socialising whilst celebrating their dedication and work within the industry.
‘I’m one of the 40 Under 40 this year, I own a shipping supply company in the Northeast of the UK, so I’ve come to look for collaborations and see how the industry is doing. It’s been a very enjoyable event.’ Andy Eyre, Managing Director, Norast Supply.
On the main deck conference area on the exhibition floor, attendees joined Christa Sys, Professor at the University of Antwerp, and Philippe Fierens, Managing Director at ExSeCo Belgium, where they discussed the development of an agile workforce that can ‘think outside the box’, using new skills and competencies for a robust future breakbulk labour market. The panel featured advice and explored key issues for up-and-comers in the industry, as well as offering insights into how to encourage a more diverse workforce and bring on workers who are currently still in education.
40 under 40 is an integral part of the AntwerpXL community. Recognising young talent in heavy-lift and breakbulk at events such as AntwerpXL helps to foster more interest in the industry and make it a more attractive prospect for future generations.
