World’s largest wind turbine blades transported
Blue Water Shipping has transported the world’s largest wind turbine blades, with a length of up to 108 metres and a weight of 65.6 tonnes per blade.
The blades, for Siemens Gamesa’s 14 MW turbines, were loaded in Aalborg, and then shipped to Hanstholm onboard MV Symphony Provider/. Blue Water also managed the unloading upon arrival. The blades are to be used at Test Centre Østerild which is a testing site for offshore wind turbines onshore to make it easier to perform measurements, services and adjustments before the turbines are placed offshore.
