Tell us a bit about yourself?
I live in Antwerp, have two fantastic sons, and I am passionate about my wife, golf, traveling, and MotoGP.
How long have you been in the Breakbulk industry?
I have been in the industry since 1981, yep… 40 years and counting!
What is the biggest change you have seen in the Breakbulk market, and have you adopted a strategy to combat changes in the industry?
The biggest change would have to be the continuous fast changes in the international markets, together with the disappearance of the traditional cargo flows. We have invested in a fantastic team of colleagues & partners and will continue to do so.
The best part of your role?
Networking, match-making, and passing on my experience to the team.
The most challenging part of your role?
I am always on the search for new business projects and always try to keep a creative mindset in all that I do.
What advice would you give your 21-year-old self and to those starting out in the breakbulk sector?
I would say that it is essential to take sufficient time to learn the full scope of the breakbulk industry, be eager to learn in general, have a flexible attitude and develop a reliable network.
Best tip for the transition out of lockdown?
Being open-minded and transparent with all communications and making sure to maintain a flexible approach to the post coronavirus period.
