If you import goods from a country outside the EU, chances are you will have to deal with Customs and file an import declaration. This is a mandatory declaration you must file with Customs, in which you indicate the nature and value of the goods. This allows Customs to determine whether import duties and VAT are due and whether other measures may be required, such as inspection of the goods.
