RAM Spreaders
About us
RAM Spreaders provide a wide range of lifting attachments for all types of cranes, with products including spreader beams, pipe handling, bulk handling, grabs, and container handling spreaders. With over 50 years of experience, RAM is at the forefront of supply, innovation, and after-sales support. The RAM Universal pipe handling spreader, specifically designed for the break-bulk market, allows operators to handle a wide range of pipe lengths and diameters at a safe distance, whilst the RAM ‘Revolver’ provides dust-free bulk handling for all types of cranes and commodities.

Universal Pipe Handling Spreader
RAM’s pipe handling spreader has been developed for ship loading without manual intervention. The spreader can effectively handle a wide variety of pipe lengths and diameters due to its four telescopic beams that move along the longitudinal and lateral axis. An onboard diesel engine provides power to the electro-hydraulically operated spreader, with all functions controlled by wireless remote control. At the end of each telescopic beam, end manipulators with built-in padding rings and additional padding on each of the spreader’s pipe contact points prevent damage during the handling process. The spreader includes mechanical sensing assemblies ensuring the safe handling of pipes. Crane operators know when to hoist the pipes thanks to LED indicators signalling when the pipes are safe and secure. The pipe spreader’s onboard diagnostic panel provides troubleshooting information and monitors sensor status. This reduces unnecessary spreader downtime and maximises the spreader’s uptime.

Containerised Bulk Handling
Containerised Bulk Handling (CBH) with RAM Revolver is a method of containerising the bulk in sealed open-top containers. It eliminates stockpiles, reduces commodity loss and contamination of the product during transportation and unloading, with no clean up required. CBH is an easy four-step process of 1) load, 2) seal, 3) transport by road/rail, and 4) store/unload. It works by loading the commodity into open-top specialised bulk containers and sealing the containers with lids before transportation to their destination by road or rail (or both). The bulk containers can be stored at the port conventionally or immediately unloaded using the RAM Revolver, where the crane operator picks up the bulk container using Revolver, which locks onto the container by ISO floating twistlocks. While hoisting, Revolver lifts the lid from the container before rotating it 360 degrees, gently tipping the commodity out. Once completed, Revolver replaces the lid onto the container, and the cycle is continued. CBH can be used on all types of cranes and commodities. The RAM Revolver can be designed to interface with new or existing crane headblocks and electrical communication systems.
