DEME secures contracts representing 1 GW for Taiwan wind farms

DEME has secured contracts for the Hai Long wind farms in Taiwan. The deal between CSBC-DEME Wind Engineering (CDWE) and Hai Long Offshore Wind comes after three years of planning and discussions.

The contract will cover the transportation and installation of the foundations, turbines, and offshore substations.

Pre-filling work is due to start in 2024, where 73 wind turbines will be installed and generate 1,044 MW (megawatts) in total. The Hai Long wind farm is located approximately 40 km from the coast of Taiwan.

Felipe Montero, project director of Hai Long says: “The collaboration with CDWE ensures the Hai Long project will benefit from a long-standing track record in marine engineering in the offshore wind while ensuring local content commitments are fulfilled. With Green Jade playing a central role in the delivery of the Hai Long project, CDWE and Hai Long demonstrate that the Taiwanese offshore wind supply chain is maturing.”
