Maersk secures contract to transport large Vestas wind turbine parts
Danish shipping leader A.P. Moller-Maersk (Maersk) has won a major contract with Vestas, a global leader in renewable energy, to transport essential components for Vestas’ newest and largest wind turbine, the V236.
The V236 turbine, with a capacity of 15 megawatts, features a central powertrain that weighs an impressive 260 tonnes. Maersk’s Project Logistics (MPL) division will be responsible for transporting this enormous component, along with other nacelle parts, from the assembly site in Lommel, Belgium, to Vestas’ facility in Lindø, Denmark, through Antwerp.
