EXHIBITOR SPOLIGHT: Core Shipping

Journalist Molly Cooper speaks to Gokhan Gulcu, chartering manager and managing partner of Core Shipping about exhibiting at AntwerpXL in November.

CORE SHIPPING’S ACTIVITIES

Located in Istanbul, Turkey, Core Shipping has a small but select team of 10 employees. Its chartering and project cargo forwarding departments are separate. ‘We are a shipping and freight forwarding company who operates ships that offer parcelling service to its customers for their breakbulk, project cargo and dangerous goods shipments,’ says Gulcu. ‘I have long-term industry experience. Before Core, worked for 8 years in freight forwarding companies as business development and chartering manager.’

Core Shipping’s main focus for the moment is West Africa, but it will always serve its customer worldwide.

The company has worked hard to build a solid reputation over recent years in its trade lane. It now operates a semi liner service from the Mediterranean to West African ports. ‘We are proud of this service, which is built in accordance with demand. We have had the ability to continuously improve this, as a result of our good services,’ explains Gulcu.

The company’s current goal is to improve its West Africa service frequency and look for new trade lanes in near future.

EXHIBITING AT ANTWERPXL

Core Shipping are no strangers to exhibitions and have participated in many since its establishment in 2015. ‘I have attended conferences and exhibitions for over 10 years with the companies I have worked for, so I know how important they are and the impact they can have,’ says Gulcu.

For Gulcu, AntwerpXL is key to making new friends and partners whilst keeping up the good relationships with the partners it already has by seeing them again in person. He says: ‘It is also a key place to promote your company and services to all the new people you will meet and show potential business partners who you know that you are still strong in the game.’

EXCITED TO RETURN TO ANTWERP

Core Shipping attended the 2022 edition of AntwerpXL as a visitor and saw the positive impact the show had for visitors and exhibitors alike. So, Core Shipping has a stand of its own for AntwerpXL 2023.

‘I love Antwerp and have missed it over the years. Coming back in November will a great return for us – thanks to the AntwerpXL team for making it happen. We are really excited to meet old friends and business partners and of course, meet as many new people as we can!,’ he says.
