Universal Africa Lines wins Best Sustainable Stand award

We are pleased to present Universal Africa Lines with the Best Sustainable Stand award at AntwerpXL 2022!

Universal Africa Lines (UAL) have won the sustainability award for their hard work and dedication to ecological sustainability. They are one of the first companies to commission to build, five of their own ‘Eco-Trader’ vessels, which have a substantially reduced draft, and consequently, are more fuel efficient. They have also expanded their investment into preserving basic resources, like water, with their award-winning Ecoaguas Plant.

UAL  have also obtained different internationally recognised licenses to ship and manage hazardous waste from Africa to Europe, to have it recycled in certified plants. Customers are provided with complete K5 Waste Management, including a certificate documenting waste recycling carried out in compliance with this treaty.

Sustainability is an integral part of business for Universal Africa Lines and this award recognises that. Sophie McKimm, Event Manager for AntwerpXL says: ‘UAL used Aluvision to build their stand, which can be used and reused over many shows. The stretch fabrics will also be used again meaning less waste. In addition, by using two stand builders to build the stand in a day, they saved time, man-hours, and only had one day of fuel costs – consequently producing less of an environmental impact.’

Universal Africa Lines’ dedication to reacting to climate change sets an example in the breakbulk sector, and their stand build and planning sets an example in the events sector for other businesses to follow.
