FORKLIFTACTION REPORT: Svetruck goes big

To paraphrase Crocodile Dundee, that’s not a big forklift: this is a big forklift.

Cooper Specialised Handling is boasting the biggest forklift around: “an incredible 80 tonne capacity forklift from Svetruck from Ljungby in Sweden”.

The behemoth was sold earlier this year to a steel company, Dansteel, in Denmark to handle billet.

The Svetruck, model 80100-75, has a capability of lifting 80 T at 1 m load centre. The machine’s footprint is similar to that of a second or third rail handling intermodal reachstacker, having a 7,500 mm wheelbase and a 4.3 m wide axle.

The machine is powered by a Volvo TAD 1371, 285 kW VE tier 4 engine (Tier V variant is also available), with ZF transmission and Kessler wet-disc braked axle.

Cooper SH steel industry specialist Martin Dale says: “The scale of this machine is truly remarkable and the uplift in capacity is welcome as there is a demand within the industry to start doubling-up on loads in order to reduce shuttling and minimise emissions.”
